Is Ketchup Keto Friendly?
The short answer No! Most store bought Ketchup’s are teaming with sugar.
But, the good news is that the big boys have put their ear to the ground and listened to what consumers want. They have come up with a Keto friendly version that can easily grace your kitchen table or backyard BBQ grill.
Heinz has created a one carb ketchup blend that won’t derail you, kick you out of ketosis or max out your keto macros. Their new ketchup “No Sugar Added” has 75% fewer carbohydrates then their original Heinz Ketchup mixture. That is a reduction from four grams of carbohydrates per tablespoon in the traditional Heinz Ketchup blend, to a sweet one gram of net carbs per one tablespoon of the “No Sugar Added” mixture.
The new Ketchup is perfect for people concerned with their overall sugar intake. Including people trying to manage their diabetes or people on a ketogenic diet.
The best part is that there is no diminishing of taste. It tastes exactly like the classic version. Now you can pour on the ketchup without piling on the carbs or the calories.
Of course there is a whole host of other Ketchup manufactures out there that have also done an amazing job listening to the end consumer. Just remember to read the labels before you purchase.

While we are on the subject of backyard BBQ’s, what other condiments may or may not be Keto friendly?
Is Mustard Keto?
The short answer is a resounding Yes!
Thank goodness too… I mean who cannot imagine eating a big old Smokey, thick slice of ham or even a juicy flame grilled hot dog, without this zesty golden sauce? I know not everyone likes mustard, but for those of us that do, mustard is definitely Keto friendly.
It comes in many different varieties, including honey, yellow, Dijon, brown and even a few spicy blends. Mustard is one of the best condiments you can eat on low carb ketogenic diet.
Is BBQ Sauce Keto?
The short answer is no. Well not the store bought kind any way.
There have been so many times I have reached for a store bought BBQ sauce only to see the nutrition label screaming ridiculously high carb count. Most people on a ketogenic diet know it is very difficult to find a low carb keto friendly BBQ sauce.
But don’t fear, the longer the keto trend is around the more these types of product manufactures will see the light of day and change their secret sauce blends to be more Keto friendly.
Until then, I will share a few of my favorite Homemade Low Carb BBQ Sauces.
Many foods taste better with a little something drizzled on top. Just because you are sticking to a healthy Keto diet, doesn’t mean you have to skip the good stuff. Just be sure to read all the labels. Manufacturers are notorious for adding loads of sugar to products, in order to make them taste better.
